New Understanding of the Regularity of Water Seepage in Cohesive Soil
|
Abstract:
There exist different viewpoints in literature and reference materials concerning pore water movement in cohesive soil, and traditional theories have failed to make reasonable explanations. As a result, some theoretical and practical problems in this field have not yet been solved. The authors put forward a new viewpoint on the basis of many researches and permeability tests in saturated cohesive soil, holding that the movement regularity of water seepage results from the mutual transformation of bound water, capillary water and gravitational water under different hydraulic gradients. Therefore the releasing law of gravitation water governs the diffe-rent pore water seepage regularities in cohesive soil.
