Abstract: For the past forty years, the study of the unearthed bamboo medical books has always been a very valid concern and many important achievements have yet been achieved. However, the lack of standard handwriting in addition to seriously being destroyed when unearthed, it’s not that easy to read them. The purpose of this article is to sort through and correct some commonly occurred interpretation mistakes from the previous studies.
“Association between Feelings about Competition and Self-Reported Happiness: Do Racial Differences Matter?” Evidence from the World Value Surveys  [PDF]
Juan Barrios
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2016.45026
Abstract: Drawing on individual data from the World Values Surveys, this paper estimates the importance of racial differences in the relation between individual feelings about competition and self-reported happiness. Racial or ethnic characteristics are split as Asians, Blacks and Whites. In general, people who think competition is good are associated to the same (high) level of happiness as do people who think competition is harmful. Blacks, however, appear to shy away from competition probably because they are not the winners in the competitive process of capitalism. Results among blacks within different countries show similar patterns. These findings are different than and complement previous research which shows a positive or negative relation between competition and well-being. The paper improves over previous research in that it approximates competitive environment by using individual-level measures and considers the relevance of cultural differences. Instrumental variable analysis suggests that there may be a relation of causality stemming from competition to happiness. The paper conjectures about the reasons why individuals who find competition as harmful report higher levels of happiness but do not attempt to establish causality directions.

Chinese Studies (ChnStd) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/chnstd.2016.53008
Abstract: Based on gravity model, this paper analyzes the impact of Mainland China and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement by using the data from 2004 to 2013. The result shows that, closer economic partnership arrangement has not promoted the goods export of Hong Kong; the effects on services trade and investment are limited. The main reasons may be the disappearance foundation of the cooperation between the two sides and the limited openness of Mainland China market.
The Hubble Field vs Dark Energy  [PDF]
Juan Lartigue
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2016.712145
Abstract: The Hubble equation was considered valid enough to calculate the recession velocity of galaxies, until further observations showed that there would be an accelerated recession in the Hubble flow, necessarily tied to an accelerated expansion of the Universe. So, this paper postulates the existence of a Hubble field as a possible cause for such an accelerated expansion, with some conditions: it must be a scalar field whose intensity should be a constant in respect to distance and whose Poisson equation should not be zero nor a function of mass; such field could rather be a property of the space-time. The obvious expression for acceleration should be the derivative of the Hubble equation respect to time, which gives two opposed-signs terms whose substitution by the De-Sitter equation drives to a permanent negative acceleration, similarly to that obtained by the 2nd Friedmann equation. Otherwise, the inclusion of the ? term in the gravitational Einstein equation has led to a two opposed-signs terms expression, resembled to a non-published Newton equation. The negative term expresses the gravitational attraction and the positive one expresses the accelerated expansion as a ? function, which usually is attributed to dark energy. In this paper it is shown that Λ is proportional to the squared Hubble parameter and that the uncertain dark energy may be substituted by the calculable Hubble field intensity to obtain an equation for the net Universe acceleration. Equations for the Hubble parameter as functions of time and radius are also deduced. A relation is shown between the various assumed masses of the Universe and its critical radius. Additional Universe parameters are estimated such as the deceleration factor and a solution for the Poisson equation in the Hubble field. A brief comment t on high-standard candles is included.
“The Trinity”: Synergy Innovation Mechanism of Science and Technology—A Case Study Based on Nantong Industrial Technology Institute  [PDF]
Juan Zhang
Technology and Investment (TI) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ti.2017.81004
Abstract: “The trinity” is that NITI focuses on the universal, critical and forward-looking technology which is from enterprises in Nantong, and uses the strategic, service, and benefit synergy, to integrate the research of scientific institutes, the incubation of incubators, and industrialization of industry bases to be an organic entirety which produces collaborative innovation. It is a science and technology innovation chain. The case proves that the scientific and technological transfer efficiency of “the Trinity” is higher than others, and has both social and economic benefits. To a certain extent, it is “1 + 1 + 1 > 3”. At present, China’s scientific and technological innovation has not been widely into fast development. On the back of the local strong financial strength and in the intention of enhancing the level of local science and technology innovation, “the Trinity” is a kind of convenient form.
Agency Cost and Uncontrollable Risks in Hiding Fortune Overseas—Offshore Companies, Ownership of the Cannes Villa and Money Laundering in the Criminal Case of Bo Xilai  [PDF]
Juan Fang
Chinese Studies (ChnStd) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/chnstd.2018.72011
Abstract: The Jinan Intermediate People’s Court adjudicated the charges of bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power against Mr. Bo Xilai, the former Communist Party Chief of Chongqing from August 22 to 26, 2013. Bo was charged of accepting a luxury villa located in Cannes from a tycoon named Xu Ming. A conspiracy named the Montage scheme, which used offshore companies in the purpose of committing bribery and covering the beneficiary of the property abroad, emerged during the trial. With focus on the role of the offshore companies played in financing function, fake business transactions, ownership structure related to the Cannes villa, this paper is trying to answer a couple of questions: what’s the time of accepting cash bribe paralleling with money laundering through a group of offshore companies, the time when the money was firstly transferred from the bribe-giver to the bribe-taker or the time when the bribe-taker became the beneficiary or controller of the assets purchased with the money? In finding out the beneficiary of a property under the name of an offshore company, is it legally required and technically possible to prove the consistence between the owner of a property and that of an offshore company?
Stability and Risk of Financial Holding Companies—Taking the Chinese CITIC Group as Example  [PDF]

Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2019.122017
Abstract: With the development of financial mixed operation, in order to enhance the financial competitiveness, more and more countries are accelerating the pace of from separate operation to mixed operation. Except bringing the advantages, financial holding company has also faced great challenges at the same time. Therefore, establishing the corresponding mixed supervision system and improving the competitiveness of the financial holding company have become the most important tasks for China’s financial industry. Taking the Chinese CITIC International Financial Holdings Limited as an example, we focus on comparing economies of scale, economies of scope as well as the study of stability and risk, based on theoretical analysis and empirical analysis methods. The results show that most of the China Financial Holding Company Limited did not reach the greatest economies of scale and scope because of the restrictions on their own management and management experience. Secondly, the higher risk of securities will not increase the risk of major financial institutions such as banks. Thirdly, the risk of subsidiaries in financial holding companies is relatively low, compared with others in separated operation. In addition, we analyze the transmission mechanism and internal transaction risk of the financial holding company, innovatively propose “Incentive Conflict Concept” in subsidiary of internal and external risk control. Finally, the paper suggests that the financial holding companies should attach great importance to internal risk control, improve their management and integrated resource ability. More importantly, the external supervision mechanism needs to improve supervision mechanism design for the mixed supervision, as much as possible to achieve regulatory objectives of incentive compatibility.

Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2019.710033
Abstract:
The studies of students learning together in learning community (LC) programmes have been widely explored. Implementing and evaluating LC programmes challenge teachers considerably. This paper explains how action research was used to design, trial and refine a same-year LC programme to motivate students. The LC programme was successfully integrated into a course of English in 2017 and 2018 about 8 months in span. The paper demonstrates the value of action research for designing the LC programme to increase student motivation. In the meanwhile, the role of transformational teacher leadership and peer leaders played in a successful learning community is elaborated as well. Key elements influencing the success of the pro-gramme were: task-based learning activities; appointment of peer leaders; the provision of structured and unstructured student support; teacher assessment and peer assessment; and the use of interactive tutorials. Achieving the appropriate balance of these factors increased students’ motivation in their English learning.

Chinese Studies (ChnStd) , 2021, DOI: 10.4236/chnstd.2021.102009
Abstract: The present era is a complex, diversified and global knowledge economy era. Adult higher education in China is faced with many challenges in obtaining and maintaining its competitive advantage. In order to deal with these challenges and improve the competitiveness, we must take the increment of human capital of adult college teachers as the premise, and teachers’ continuing education is an important means. However, in the actual operation process, many teacher trainings are eager for quick success and instant benefits, and fails to grasp the rational training strategy of team building from a strategic perspective. At present, some trainers are armchair due to the lack of front-line teaching experience, which makes the training effect too wet to be applied in actual combat or has guiding and reference significance (Shi, 2007). This paper takes Zhejiang Open University teaching staff training center in nearly three years project as the research subject, through the analysis of the existing training effect evaluation model of the commonly used at home and abroad, analyzes the models application environment and evaluation level and so on, is open to Zhejiang university system problems that exist in the teacher training effect evaluation activities carried on the investigation and study, and analyzes the reasons of these problems. Through the construction of effective training effect evaluation system and the corresponding evaluation model to solve these problems. Referring to the academic
A Method for Calculating Oil Field Relative Permeability Curve by Using Water Drive Characteristic Curve in High Water Cut Stage  [PDF]
Juan Du
Journal of Geoscience and Environment Protection (GEP) , 2022, DOI: 10.4236/gep.2022.102004
Abstract: With the production of strong bottom water reservoir, it will soon enter the ultra-high water cut stage. After entering the ultra-high water cut period, the main means of stable production is liquid extraction. Large liquid volume has a certain impact on the physical property distribution and fluid seepage law of the oilfield. The relative permeability curve measured according to the industry standard is not used for the prediction of development indicators and the understanding of the dynamic law of the oilfield. In order to understand the characteristics of water drive law in high water cut stage of water drive oilfield, starting from the water drive characteristic curve in high water cut stage, the method for calculating the relative permeability curve is deduced. Through numerical simulation verification and fitting the actual production data, it is confirmed that the obtained relative permeability curve is in line with the reality of the oilfield, It can provide some guiding significance for understanding the production law and water drive law of strong bottom water reservoir in ultra-high water cut stage.
