A Scalable Model of the Substrate Network in Deep n-Well RF MOSFETs with Multiple Fingers  [PDF]
Jun Liu, Marissa Condon
Circuits and Systems (CS) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/cs.2011.22014
Abstract: A novel scalable model of substrate components for deep n-well (DNW) RF MOSFETs with different number of fingers is presented for the first time. The test structure developed in [1] is employed to directly access the characteristics of the substrate to extract the different substrate components. A methodology is developed to directly extract the parameters for the substrate network from the measured data. By using the measured two-port data of a set of nMOSFETs with different number of fingers, with the DNW in grounded and float configuration, respectively, the parameters of the scalable substrate model are obtained. The method and the substrate model are further verified and validated by matching the measured and simulated output admittances. Excellent agreement up to 40 GHz for configurations in common-source has been achieved.
Heterocronía y variación morfológica en anuros
Fabrezi,Marissa;
Cuadernos de herpetolog?-a , 2012,
Abstract: heterochrony is a concept referred to ontogenetic variation and is frequently used in comparative morphology. it involves single traits, the whole organism, size, shape and has implicit the timing in which an ontogenetic trajectory occurs. the study of heterochrony has produced terms, definitions and models in which sometimes the heterochronic variation overlaps with its morphological results and evolutionary processes. herein, the revision of some of these terms and definitions is discussed with data of developmental variation in anurans.
Variación morfológica de la dentición en anuros
Fabrezi, Marissa
Pedicellate teeth in anurans are differentiated in metamorphosed specimens after a first, non-pedicellate dentition. Lack of pedicellate teeth and lack of teeth have been interpreted in ontogenetic terms; low developmental rate produces completely edentate species or teeth without division in crown and pedicel (first teeth generation); whereas a high developmental rate results in hypercalcified teeth where crown and pedicel are continuous because the dividing zone is calcified. Teeth number and morphology was studied species of Xenopus, and some neobatrachian taxa belonging to Arthroleptidae, Hylidae, Hyperoliidae, Leptodactylidae, Pseudidae, and Ranidae. Besides, differentiation of teeth in ceratophrynes was included. Young specimens of species with pedicellate teeth have non-pedicellate teeth, similar to those adults of other species where the pedicellate condition does not differentiate. Other species lack of pedicellate dentition because there is a fast and strong calcification of teeth. The observed variation call to pay attention to the potential use of the ontogenetic and morphological information that could provide the anuran dentition.

The shape variation of terminal phalanges observed among Neobatrachian Anurans has been considered to characterize and define some taxa. This study includes a review of shape of terminal phalanges and some data on their development Adult specimens of eleven Neobatrachian families and larval specimens of two of them are reported on. The comparations allow recognition of shape and ontogenetic convergences among terminal phalanges which limit the possibilities to use terminal phalanges shape as relationship indicators above the genus level.

Heterochrony is a concept referred to ontogenetic variation and is frequently used in comparative morphology.
Managing Peri-Implantitis and Peri-Mucositis with Direct Medication Delivery
Marissa Buechel
- , 2010, DOI: 10.25141/2471-657X-2017-10.0103
Abstract: Background: Periodontal disease and Peri-implantitis/perimucositis are a host inflammatory response to the biofilm in the gingival sulcus or periodontal pocket. Some patients with a propensity for gum disease may not respond to mechanical treatments like scaling / root planing and surgery as the treatments leave the bacteria that caused the disease in the gingival tissue, on the surface of the roots of the tooth or implant. Mechanical treatments may foster biofilm regeneration, introduce the bacteria, toxins and host inflammatory products into the systemic circulation resulting in an increased incidence of bacteria. This three part study demonstrates effective biofilm control using a direct medication delivery method by three different practitioners for three different patients. Method: Direct medication delivery uses hydrogen peroxide gel (Perio Gel) and a sub-clinical dose of doxycycline (Vibramycin, Pfizer) delivered subgingival and inter-proximal using custom formed medical devices (Perio Tray [Perio Protect LLC St. Louis, MO.]) Hydrogen peroxide forms oxygen that approaches hyperbaric oxygen concentration when generated within the Perio Tray. The method is used in accordance with the patienta??s conditions and the treatments are modified as healing occurred. Direct medication is used first to control the biofilm and debride the wound and mechanical means to remove biofilm deposits are used where needed. Three cases are presented to demonstrate efficacy, bacterial changes and clinical and radiographic improvements with treatment. Results: Use of direct medication delivery demonstrates a resolution of Peri-implantitis/mucositis and periodontal disease with decreased pocket probing depth and bleeding upon probing. A pre-treatment salivary DNA analysis shows a pathogenic biofilm constituency compared to a post-treatment salivary analysis showing a less virulent population. Implants with bone loss are shown to increase threads coverage with direct medication delivery through the formation of bone. Pathogen specific DNA analysis before, during and after treatment demonstrate a significant decrease in the virulence and the number of bacteria demonstrating an ability to modify the cause of disease and maintain this management over time. Conclusion: Direct medication delivery of hydrogen peroxide gel and doxycycline using custom formed medical devices are effective in treating periodontal disease, Peri-implantitis and perimucositis. Direct medication delivery demonstrates a significant modification in the biofilm by decreasing the number and virulence of
Peace and Exclusion: The Afghanistan Peace and Reintegration Program

- , 2018, DOI: 10.1177/0160597616667592
Abstract: What does a “responsible end” to war in Afghanistan mean? As a panacea for international disengagement, the Afghanistan Peace and Reintegration Program (APRP) was launched in 2010. After the 2001 intervention, the Bonn Agreement laid the foundations for a new Afghan state. Its exclusion of the Taliban signaled continuing conflict. The APRP is ostensibly designed to address this and other exclusions and foster an “inclusive peace.” This article probes the peace process at the macro-, meso-, and micro levels within the context of ongoing war. It examines the abandonment and marginalization experienced by women, segments of the insurgency, civil society and human rights groups as well as fragile communities undergoing reintegration. I argue that these exclusions are facilitated by a coalescence of interests that have reinforced the cycle of war and deepened exclusion. Consequently, the peace process has become incapable of offering real solutions, instead functioning as a pretext for excluding already marginalized groups
Explaining Employer Responses to Transnational Labor Activism: Indonesia and Cambodia Compared
Marissa Brookes
- , 2018, DOI: 10.1177/0010414017710266
Abstract: Attempts to expand labor rights are rarely met with automatic acceptance by employers who benefitted from past practices. Workers, thus, sometimes engage in transnational activism in an attempt to secure labor rights on the local or national scale. This article investigates why some employers alter their behavior in response to such activism. I hypothesize that an employer will concede to a transnational labor campaign only when workers fully shift that employer’s attention onto the international scale and directly threaten the employer’s core, material interests. Evidence from a controlled comparison of labor disputes at luxury hotels in Indonesia and Cambodia during a period of institutional transition in the early 2000s supports this argument. This analysis sheds light on the conditions necessary for the implementation of labor rights through transnational activism and the causal mechanisms linking labor and employer strategies to the outcomes of transnational campaigns
