Agent-Based Synthesis of Distributed Controllers for Discrete Manufacturing Systems  [PDF]
Ernesto López-Mellado
Journal of Software Engineering and Applications (JSEA) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jsea.2011.43015
Abstract: A method for designing real-time distributed controllers of discrete manufacturing systems is presented. The approach held is agent based; the controller strategy is distributed into several interacting agents that operate each one on a part of the manufacturing process; these agents may be distributed into several interconnected processors. The proposed method consists of a modelling methodology and software development framework that provides a generic agent architecture and communication facilities supporting the interaction among agents.
EL MODERNISMO Y EL POSITIVISMO EN EL ARIEL DE JOSé RODó
Mellado,Luciana;
Alpha (Osorno) , 2006, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-22012006000100006
Abstract: modernism and positivism constitute two hermeneutic interpretive models that remained popular at the end of 19th century, and at the beginning of the 20th century in the río de la plata, with specific levels of influence. both models defined differently the interpretive meanings of ariel by jose rodó, the text analyzed in this article. the primary objective is to identify how each one of these interpretative perspectives works on this discourse.
La tierra del fuego de Iparraguirre: La Patagonia revisitada
Mellado,Luciana;
Anclajes , 2009,
Abstract: this work examines the narrative construction of the patagonia in la tierra del fuego (1998) by sylvia iparraguirre. the novel traces the imaginary character of the region during the 19th century related intertextually to other historical and literary representations of this space that are revisited and revised. these representations come principally from the european foundational narrative and promote the literary and political definition of the place in a hegemonic version that the novel denaturalizes. la tierra del fuego recalls the manners with which england writes selectively the austral patagonia in the 19th century as a subordinate space, and remembers the problematic inscription of this territory in the political national cartography. the text shows the discursive character of the imaginary geography of the region in relation to the textual productivity of the british metropolis, whose accounts on the place were central to legitimize its presence and intervention in the territory. iparraguirre shows, in the statement and the enunciation, the obvious link between the colonial project that england undertook in the patagonia and the strategies used to describe and narrate nature and local culture. the writer displays the ideologically motivated quality of the regional narrations, including her own writing.

Interconsulta Neurológica en la Unidad de Tratamiento Intensivo
Mellado,Patricio;
Revista chilena de neuro-psiquiatría , 2004, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-92272004000100008
Abstract: the paper "neurological consultations in the medical intensive care unit" by rasvi ss, bone i. published in j neurol neurosurg psychiatry 2003; 74 (suppl iii): iii16-iii23 shows the epidemiological importance of neurological consultations in the intensive care unit (icu). it then analyses the clinical and technological difficulties of evaluating these patients, and defines such terms used in the icu as sepsis, septic shock, adult respiratory distress syndrome (ards) and multiple organ failure. it describes the neurological testing that should be done in the icu and, finally, reviews the various situations in which neurologists are needed in intensive care
Invitación al tema de las unidades de Neurointensivo
Mellado,Patricio;
Revista chilena de neuro-psiquiatría , 2003, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-92272003000400006
Abstract: the paper "admission to neurological intensive care: who, when, and why?" by howard rs, kullmann dm, hirsch np published in j neurol neurosurg psychiatry. 2003; 74 (suppl iii): iii2-iii9, lists and briefly comments on the pathologies treated in a neurointensive care unit. two interesting concepts discussed in the paper are: 1. exhaustive care given by the nursing staff and early kinesiological treatment are key to achieving positive results among patients hospitalized in any type of intensive care unit; and 2. a patient suffering from a serious neurological illness should be hospitalized in neurointensive care rather than in a general critical care unit since specialized care units can better anticipate a patient?s needs due to the staff?s greater knowledge of the nature of neurological illnesses and a keener ability to recognize complications early on
La voz de la academia: reflexiones sobre periodismo y comunicación
MELLADO,CLAUDIA;
Signo y Pensamiento , 2010,
Abstract: this article describes a vision of journalism in latin america as a job and a profession with an academic dimension, and its relation with the field of communication, since both fields have been together almost since they started to be taught at universities. statements by 35 researchers and journalism/communication teachers from 16 latin american countries show that latin american universities tend to think of mass media as the most prominent element in both the practice and the theory of journalism. this happens even though the market for journalism has expanded, and in spite of an evolution in the curricula of communication programs, which now include areas such as public relations and corporate communication. a clear differentiation was perceived between the two groups in the region: central american countries think of journalism as a job based on the development of technical and practical skills, south american countries think of it as a professional field.
Responsabilidad Social Empresarial en las Peque?as y Medianas Empresas latinoamericanas
Mellado,Claudia;
Revista de Ciencias Sociales , 2009,
Abstract: corporate social responsibility (csr) is a new vision of the strategic management and corporate ethics of organizations, where technological, economic and cultural change have re-defined the relationship that organizations have with their public and the environment. considering small and medium enterprises (sames) as a transcendental element in latin american economy and social composition, this work reviews and analyzes the role that csr can play in the management of their intangibles and in the production of value within this type of business format. through an analysis linked to organizational phenomena, this study discusses both the difficulties and the advantages that small and medium enterprises present for adopting these strategies, as well as the importance of professionalizing business and communications management within each of them.
Reflexiones sobre la oferta académica, la situación laboral y la formación del periodista en Latinoamérica
Mellado,Claudia;
Revista de Ciencias Sociales , 2010,
Abstract: from the journalism studies viewpoint, this article reviews relationships between existing academic offerings in communication studies, working conditions and the education given to future journalists in latin america. the study states that the traditional labour market is unable to absorb more professionals in the mass media. likewise, it warns that universities would not be responding to society?s real demands, harming the insertion of new graduates in the working world, and at the same time, placing on the table the identity problems the profession has carried with it since formal journalism education was established in the region.
