%X the article explores the relationship between the trajectory of capistrano de abreu in search of a place for itself in a specific social space, and the path in search of brazil and the brazilians. the goal is to understand the question proposed by capistrano about the formation of brazil as a nation, considering the link between historiography and ethnography at the turn of the 19th century.
