%X the different definitions of telemedicine refer to the techniques and technologies used for practicing medicine at a distance, thus maintaining the etymology of the term telemedicine ("medicine at a distance"). telematic systems provide access to healthcare services, enable follow-up of chronic diseases and patient education in preventive medicine and public health. despite the increase of applying these new technologies to the healthcare setting, telemedicine is still not widely used in clinical and healthcare activities.
