%X the aim of this study is to analyze the adaptation process and the study of the psychometric properties of a measurement instrument used in the evaluation of the professional motivation of a population of portuguese doctors. the final version is build on 57 likert scale£¿s items, grouped in seven components or short scales, that describe the main constructs involved in motivational process. applied to a sample of 109 doctors, on a post graduated vocational training in family medicine internship, the results of the adaptation, and its validation, suggest that we used an adequate methodology. the study shows a reliable, valid and sensitive instrument, suggesting that the scale is an independent and specific framework, recommended to evaluate the strategies used by the medical trainees in their motivational process, in a specialty that is crucial for a primary care health system.
