%X statin use in relation to cerebrovascular accidents has shown controversial results. its use has been associated with a decrease in the development of ischemic stroke, and this effect was counterbalanced by an increase in hemorrhagic stroke. the level of evidence casts doubt on the benefit of these drugs in cases of high risk for hemorrhagic stroke, increasing the need for appropriate assessment of risks and benefits. a critical review on the issue is presented.
