%0 Journal Article %T EFICACIA ANTIPARASITARIA DE IVERMECTINA Y CLOSANTEL CONTRA Oestrus ovis EN OVINOS INFESTADOS NATURALMENTE %A Matos %A Vilmaris %A Rodr¨ªguez Diego %A J.G %A Alfonso %A P %A Mart¨ªn %A J %A Mengana %A Eliarse %A P¨¦rez %A E %A Moya %A Saidranis %A Matos %A K %J Revista de Salud Animal %D 2011 %I Centro Nacional de Sanidad Agropecuaria %X the aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of ivermectin and closantel for controlling larvae oestrus ovis in natutrally infested adult sheeps. to carry out this experiment, 27 pelibuey animals, from a farm of guant¨¢namo province, were selected based on clinical signs, suspicious of an infestation by the agent. those sheeps were random allotted into four groups of six animals each. at the beginning of the experiment (day 0), each group received a different treatment: group (g1), treated with 1% ivermectin injection at doses of 200 mcg / kg (1 ml/50 kg) subcutaneously (sc); group (g2), treated with a dose of 2 ml per 10 kg weight of oral closantel 5%; group (g3) untreated control, injected with saline (1 ml/50 kg) and group (g4) sentinel. this latter group was sacrificed on day 0 to estimate the parasite load. all animals from the other groups (g1, g2 and g3) were sacrificed on day 28 post-treatment. the efficacy of drugs used, based on the percentage reduction of live larvae with respect to the infested control animals, was 100% in both cases (g1 & g2). it is conclude that both drugs tested were highly effective for controlling the different larval stages of o. ovis. %K oestrus ovis %K antiparasitic %K ivermectin %K closantel. %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0253-570X2011000300007&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
