%X the implementation of an empirical treatment in patients with muitidrug resistant (mdr) tuberculosis (tb) without sputum culture and drug-susceptibility tests leads to a high number of failures. several studies have shown that standardized second line retreatment does not provide a high cure rate and is an empirical regime. therefore, this does not appear to be the best therapeutic choice; mdrtb patients should be treated with an individualized treatment by physicians expert in this very special form of tuberculosis.
