%X within the framework of a research project on social cleavage and political parties in countries in the process of democratization, the author pauses over the case of bolivia to show how one can measure the changes of emphasis in class to the ethnicity in the party system and, at the same time, to make an outline of a hypothesis to explain the changes in the party system.
