Museo de Historia Natural %D 2012 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %X with the objective of finding resistance sources to the attack by the potato moth tecia solanivora, five potato varieties, tuquerre£¿a, capiro, criolla amarilla, tornilla, and mambera, were evaluated. the pest's demographic parameters were estimated, finding that its life cycle was extended to 75 days in the tuquerre£¿a variety, which was 9 more days than in the susceptible criolla amarilla and capiro varieties. the percentage of pupation and adult emergence in the mambera and tuquerre£¿a varieties were statistically lower than in the other varieties. larval and pupal mortalities obtained in the tuquerre£¿a, mambera, and tornilla varieties were above all other varieties. antixenosis properties were observed in the tuquerre£¿a variety (129 eggs/female) when oviposition rate was evaluated. the antibiotic and nonpreference effect on the pest's biology, found in the tuquerre£¿a, mambera, and tornilla varieties, makes these genotypes a resistance source that could be incorporated in potato breeding programs to the attack by t. solanivora. %K antibiosis %K antixenosis %K demographic parameters %K resistance to insects. %U http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0123-30682012000100009&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
