%X myrtaceae is admittedly a family of great importance in the cerrado biome. myrcia is one of the most representative genera of the family, with the main distribution centers in the states of minas gerais and goi¨¢s. the current study reveals the occurrence of 33 myrcia species in the "campos rupestres" and associated forest formations of minas gerais. treatment of the genus includes identification keys, descriptions, geographic distribution data and comments on the species.
