%0 Journal Article %T Cucharas y picos: contribuciones de la arquelog¨ªa feminista al estudio de g¨¦nero %A Navarrete %A Rodrigo %J Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer %D 2008 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %X feminist discourse, frequently in relationship to marxist and psychoanalytical theories, has strongly impacted theories and practices in social sciences during the last two decades. its open critique the occidental hegemonic knowledge models, including the scientific one, has allowed to show the androcentric and heterosexist vision -therefore, occidental, eurocentric y elitist- underlying to concepts, procedures and interpretations applied uncritically to our professional and daily life. archaeology, as a social science devoted to reconstruct past human societies -are in the present- throughout material culture remains, has been also strongly impacted by feminist theory in the last decades. being aware of the androcentric notions in archaeological discourse and practice, feminist archaeology has been able to reconfigure the discipline profile and even redirected. first, it shown and denounce the androcentric distortion and sexual inequality prevailing in current archaeological practice. second, it allowed detecting women invisibility and sexist prejudices uncritically incorporated to the archaeological interpretation of the past. third, it developed an incisive analysis on the roots and epistemological, political and cultural consequences of women inequality in the past and in the archaeological present. finally, it generated new theoretical, methodological and interpretative tools in order to rescue past sexual diversity, which lately incited the emergence of gender archaeology. this article analyzed the construction of this powerful analysis and political action framework from archaeology and it will try to explore its capabilities and limits in the latin american and venezuelan context. %K archaeology %K feminism %K material cultura %K gender history. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S1316-37012008000100009&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
