%X The paper deals with the development time and content overview of the diagnosis related group payment system. This payment system was initially introduced as a managerial tool for decreasing costs and improving effectiveness. The diagnosis related group payment system followed the development of medicine and contributed to developing a system of quality and safety of patients. During the last decade, some countries have started ¡®pay for performance¡¯ programmes for the quality of healthcare delivered. The present trend of integrative healthcare will result in another adjustment in the system of reimbursement in healthcare.
