%X The tetranortriterpenoid, nimbin contains the olefinic double bond at the ring C. When Ritter reaction was performed on this compound to introduce the amide moiety in ring C using sulfuric acid in acetonitrile, unexpectedly it underwent isomerization with the formation of isonimbin.
