%0 Journal Article %T Synthesis and Characterization of New 1,3-Oxazol-5-(4H)-one Derivatives %J American Journal of Organic Chemistry %@ 2163-1301 %D 2012 %I %R 10.5923/j.ajoc.20120206.04 %X New 1,3-oxazol-5(4H)-one (3a ¨C b) was synthesized by cyclization of[(Pyridyl-3-yl-carbonyl)amino]acetic acid (2). The starting were readily obtained by acylation of 2-amino acetic acid (Glycine) with nicotinoyl chloride. Imidazole was synthesized by reaction of compounds (3a - b) with hydrazine hydrate (99%). Compounds (4a - b) were converted into a variety of derivatives.
