%X Reactions of 6-amino-3-methyl-1,4-diphenyl-1,4-dihydropyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole-5-carbonitrile (1) with a variety of reagents leads to the synthesis of pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole derivatives has been investigated with the aim to explore the use of this exceptionally reactive nitrile in heterocyclic synthesis.
