%X This paper reviews the progress of the research on the multiple attenuation method and analyses and points out the virtue and shortcoming of various multiple attenuation methods.The method of multiple attenuation can be classified into the filter method based on the signal analysis and wavefield prediction and subtraction based on the wave-equation method. The paper focuses on introducing the multiple attenuaton method based on the wave equation and compares the characters of wavefield extrapolation; iterative inversion method; and inverse scattering series and shows the effect of the iterative inversion method through some models and field seismic data.
