%0 Journal Article %T Turkish Language Teacher Candidates¡¯ Opinions on the Functionality of Field Courses %A B¨¹LENT £¿ZKAN %A Nam£¿k Kemal £¿AHBAZ %J Sakarya University Journal of Education %D 2011 %I Sakarya University Educational Science Instutite %X The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the inefficiencies of the ¡°field courses¡± of Turkish Language Education Graduate Programme which has been renewed in 2006 in the dimensions of ¡°functionality, process, content, material and theory-practice distribution¡± based on the views ofTurkish Language candidate teachers. It is a quantitative designed descriptive research. The population of the research has comprised of 116 candidate teachers who have been attending to 12 universities¡¯ Turkish Language Education Departments in the spring semester of 2010-2011education year. A semi-structured questionnaire including 5 open-ended questions was used as data collection tool for the study. Data of the research was analyzed by descriptive analysis technique and obtained values were presented by frequency and percentage. According to the results of the research, the most significant inefficiencies of ¡°field courses¡± in the dimensions of functionality, process, content, material and theory-practice distribution can be summarized as: ¡°insufficient knowledge (content) towards the profession (%44, 8)¡±, ¡°low quality education (%44, 8)¡±, ¡°containing too much details (%34, 5)¡±, ¡°insufficiency of material quantity and variety (%49, 1), ¡°insufficiency of practical content (%52, 6)¡±. %K Turkish Language Education %K Turkish Language Education Graduate Programme %K Field Courses. %U http://www.suje.sakarya.edu.tr/index.php/suje/article/view/7/7
