%X La Carta de Aristeas a Fil車crates constituye un documento fundamental para la historia de la traducci車n, pese a la parte generosa que reserva a la ficci車n hist車rica y la inventiva. Pretende explicar las circunstancias de la traducci車n de la Biblia hebrea al griego (la famosa versi車n llamada de los Setenta, por el n迆mero supuesto de traductores), que se llev車 a cabo en Alejandr赤a de Egipto, probablemente en un ambiente jud赤o, entre los siglos III y II a. C. El art赤culo sintetiza los avances de la investigaci車n moderna sobre el autor y la fecha, las fuentes y el vocabulario de este importante documento en lengua griega. Tambi谷n evoca el mundo de Alejandr赤a, con el Museo y la famosa Biblioteca, y describe la situaci車n de los jud赤os en el seno de la comunidad alejandrina, as赤 como la g谷nesis y el desarrollo de la leyenda de Aristeas. Por 迆ltimo, ofrece una traducci車n castellana de los pasajes m芍s significativos de la obra. Despite its generous lashings of historical fiction and invention, the letter of Aristaeas dedicated to Philocrates constitutes a key document in the history of translation. It sets out to explain the circumstances in which the Hebrew Law was translated into Greek (the famous Septuagint which derives its name from the number of translators believed to have been involved in the task) in Alexandria, probably by Jewish translators, from 3rd to 2nd centuries BC. The article gives an overview of modern scholarship's advances concerning the author and the date of composition, as well as the sources and vocabulary of this important document written in the Greek language. It also evokes the world of Alexandria, with its Museum and its famous Library, as well as describing the position of the Jews in Alexandrian society, and traces the genesis and development of the legend of Aristaeas. Finally, the article provides a Spanish translation of the work's most significant passages.
