%X En aquest article s'examina la recepci¨® que han tingut les novel¡¤les de Jane Austen en llengua catalana. Despr¨¦s de donar una visi¨® general de la traject¨°ria que han tingut les obres d'aquesta escriptora en el m¨®n i de fer un breu rep¨¤s de la sort que han tingut en llengua castellana (de fet, fonamentalment a Espanya), s'estudien amb m¨¦s detall les circumst¨¤ncies en qu¨¨ han aparegut cadascuna de les set traduccions que n'existeixen en catal¨¤: sobretot, les circumst¨¤ncies professionals i vitals dels traductors i traductores que n'han fet les diverses versions, els condicionants ling¨¹¨ªstics i culturals del moment en qu¨¨ van apar¨¨ixer les traduccions i les caracter¨ªstiques de les editorials que les han acollides i de les col¡¤leccions en qu¨¨ han aparegut. This article examines the reception of Jane Austens novels in Catalan. After giving a general overview of the spread of the novels' reputation, first in English-speaking countries and later in the whole world, and of briefly describing their reception in Spanish (mainly in Spain), the circumstances surrounding the seven existing Catalan translations of Austens works are examined in more detail: in particular, the professional and life trajectories of their different translators, the linguistic and cultural factors operating at the time each translation appeared, and the aims and nature of the collection in which each was published.
