%X O presente artigo se origina da pesquisa intitulada ¡°A realidade do crack em Santa Cruz do Sul ¨CRS¡±, que investigou aproblem¨¢tica psicossociale suas implica  es individuais, coletivas e familiares nomunic¨ªpio. Apresenta-se aqui um recorte nos dados alcan ados, que se refere ao perfil dos usu¨¢rios desta substancia. Baseada numametodologia quantitativa e qualitativa, foram aplicadasentrevistas semi-estruturadas emsujeitos que estavam vinculados aosservi os de tratamento (ESF, CAPSia, CAPS AD, CT e Hospitais de refer¨ºncia), e a outros espa os comunit¨¢rios, totalizando 200 entrevistas, sendo 100 com familiares e 100 com usu¨¢rios de drogas. A amostra dos usu¨¢rios de crack foi constitu¨ªda por 87% do sexo masculino, a maioria entre 19e 32 anos de idade (61%),com o ensino fundamental incompleto (51%). Constata-se que o uso de drogas se inicia na adolesc¨ºncia, entre os 10 e 15 anos de idade (62%), e que estes usu¨¢rios trazemhist¨®rico de depend¨ºncia qu¨ªmica na fam¨ªlia. Decorre da¨ª a importancia de analisar estes dados e repensar as pol¨ªticas p¨²blicas de preven  o e tratamento. Abstract This article comes from the research ¡°The reality of crack in Santa Cruz do Sul ¨CRS¡±, which has investigated the psychosocial issuesrelated to the use of crack and its individual, social and familiar implications in the mentioned city. In this article, we decided to describe the profile of the users of this substance. Based on a qualitative and quantitative methodology, through interviews performed in the treatment services (ESF, CAPSia, CAPS AD, CT and reference hospitals), as well as among the community in the total of 200 interviews, being 100 with families and 100 with drug users. The sample of crack users consisted in 87% mail, most of them between 19 and 32 years of age (61%), and incomplete elementary school (51%). We noticed that the use of drugs starts in the adolescence, most between 10 and 15 years of age (62%), and these users have a history of drug addiction in the family. It follows the importance of analyzing this data and think about public policies for prevention and treatment.
