%0 Journal Article %T THE NEW READING WOMEN: what teens are reading? %A Cintia Kath Blank %J Biblionline %D 2011 %I Universidade Federal da Para¨Şba %X The research has aimed to characterize the reading practices of female teenagers, students of public and private schools of Rio Grande, with the main focus characterize this readership and observe possible trends in reading this genre. Thus, this study analyzed 221 questionnaires filled out by young women aged between 14 and 19 years, high school students from public and private schools in Rio Grande-RS in the years 2008 and 2009. In this survey we realized that the young female audience has a regular habit of reading, it was also possible to identify the favorite subjects of reading and meaning of this age that young people bring to the act of reading. We believe that research focusing on reading practices characterize this group may in addition to guiding activities as reference service and the encouragement of reading in libraries, but also possible we draw parallels between the present and past events. %K Reading %K Reading Female %K Adolescence %K Gender %U http://periodicos.ufpb.br/ojs2/index.php/biblio/article/viewFile/7341/5805
