GA requires heavy recursive computation because of its nature of algorithm. A personal computer can run GA program with ease but an application such as adaptive beam forming and control system that requires small embedded system at the base station face great challenge to reach maximum performance in the limited resources environment. In this paper, the performance of Genetic Algorithm (GA) firmware embedded in two different microcontrollers, Microchip PIC18F4550 and NXP LPC2131 ARM core microcontroller for adaptive beam forming was investigated and compared. The results show that LPC2131 has better performance as compared to PIC18F4550 in the aspect of optimization speed and antenna beam forming. Besides, this paper also reviews the realization of embedded GA in microcontroller systems. %K Adaptive beam forming %K Embedded Genetic Algorithm %K PIC %K ARM %K Microcontroller %U http://ijecct.coe.edu.my/journal/index.php/ijecct/article/view/26/18
