Rapid industrial development makes the power system is stressed. This stressed power system has more loss and low voltage profile, generator has its limitation and could not generate sufficient reactive power, to overcome this situation Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices are used. This paper makes use of one such FACTS device namely STATCOM to relief power system stress by injective adequate reactive power. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique is used to optimize the STATCOM location and reactive power injection.
