%X La poblaci車n de cocodrilos americanos en el Parque Nacional Canon del Sumidero fue estudiada de 1993 a 2003, detall芍ndose su historia natural. El h芍bitat de esta especie fue modificado en 1980 cuando se construy車 una presa hidroel谷ctrica. Al inicio del estudio s車lo se localiz車 un nido activo, pero al final, anidaban m芍s de diez hembras. Los nidos fueron de tipo hoyo. Las cr赤as nacen tras 80 d赤as de incubaci車n con crecimiento de 0,1 mm/d赤a durante los primeros a os. Los juveniles se alimentan de insectos y peces, posteriormente, incrementan el tama o de sus presas. Las cr赤as tienden a desplazarse m芍s activamente que los adultos, los que pueden verse durante todo el a o en el mismo territorio. Las actividades humanas que amenazan a esta especie en este sitio son: cacer赤a, pesca incidental en redes de trasmallo y campamentos ubicados en los sitios de anidaci車n.This article details the natural history of the population of the American Crocodile in the Sumidero Canyon National Park from 1993 to 2003. The habitat of this species was changed in 1980 when a hydroelectric dam was built. At the beginning of the study, only one active nest was located, but by the end there were more than ten nesting females. The nest type was a hole, and the young hatched after 80 days of incubation; they grow 0.1 mm/day during the early years. Juveniles feed on insects and fish, and then increase the size of their prey. The young tend to move more and be more active than adults, and they can be seen throughout the year in the same territories. Human activities that threaten the species in this site are hunting, incidental catch in gillnets, and camping at the nesting sites
