%0 Journal Article %T Metaphorical perception of primary school children in related to classroom concept %A Emel Sar£¿ta£¿ %A Kaz£¿m £¿elik %J International Journal of Human Sciences %D 2013 %I International Journal of Human Sciences %X In this research conducted to define primary school students¡¯ metaphorical perception of classroom concept, it is tried to be determined that concept of classroom metaphors and their common features which are owned by the students are gathered under which conceptual categories. In other words, in this study, a classroom concept is tried to picture via metaphors. In this research, qualitative research technique was used to collect, analyze and interpret data and technically metaphor analysis was used. Fourth and fifth grade totally 307 students attended the research. Participants are asked to conclude the sentence ¡°The classroom is like ¡­¡­¡­¡­¡­¡­¡­. because ¡­¡­¡­¡­¡­. .¡± These handwritten paragraphs were used as the basic source in the research. Through the students¡¯ products 67 valid metaphors in total were produced. 5 metaphors articulated by many participants respectively follow these: 1- my house (81 participants), 2- family, home (28 participants), 3- A blackboard jungle (25 participants), 4- Dumpsite (20 participants), 5- Carnival (19 participants). These metaphors are categorized into 5 different conceptual classifications via availment of literature.
