%0 Journal Article %T Histogram Equalization with Range Offset for Brightness Preserved Image Enhancement %A Haidi Ibrahim %J International Journal of Image Processing %D 2011 %I Computer Science Journals %X In this paper, a simple modification to Global Histogram Equalization (GHE), a well known digitalimage enhancement method, has been proposed. This proposed method known as HistogramEqualization with Range Offset (HERO) is divided into two stages. In its first stage, an intensitymapping function is constructed by using the cumulative density function of the input image,similar to GHE. Then, during the second stage, an offset for the intensity mapping function will bedetermined to maintain the mean brightness of the image, which is a crucial criterion for digitalimage enhancement in consumer electronic products.
