%T Diuretics and its use in nephrotic syndrome

%X Nephrotic syndrome is a clinical condition characterized by an urinary massive lossof proteins, specially albumin, which leads to the development of hypoalbuminemiaand secondary edema. Other alterations, like dyslipidemia, accompany to thesemanifestations in a compensatory way to the loss of oncotic pressure, but thesemanifestations aren∩t part of the definition. The treatment is based on the use ofcorticoids and cytotoxic drugs, however other measures for the control of edema, as theuse of diuretics, have been used without being in the guidelines as obligatory guides ofmanagement. In this article, it is done a review of the pharmacological characteristicsand the indications of the diuretics in the management of the nephrotic syndrome.Rev.cienc.biomed. 2012;3(2):312-316RESUMEN:El s赤ndrome nefr車tico es una condici車n cl赤nica caracterizada por p谷rdida urinaria masivade prote赤nas, especialmente alb迆mina, lo cual lleva al desarrollo de hipoalbuminemiay edema secundario. Otras alteraciones como la dislipidemia acompa an este cuadroen forma compensatoria a la p谷rdida de la presi車n onc車tica, mas no hacen parte de ladefinici車n. El tratamiento se basa en el uso de corticoides y citot車xicos, sin embargootras medidas para el control del edema como el uso de diur谷ticos, han sido usadas,sin encontrarse en las gu赤as como pautas obligatorias de manejo.
