%0 Journal Article %T La preceptiva historiogr¨¢fica renacentista y la ret¨®rica de los discursos: antolog¨ªa de textos %A Pineda %A Victoria %J Talia Dixit : Revista Interdisciplinar de Ret¨®rica e Historiograf¨ªa %D 2007 %I Universidad de Extremadura %X The debate over historians¡¯ use of speeches in their narratives engagednumerous scholars and historiographers during the Early Modern period all across Europe.Some of them viewed the inclusion of speeches as a sign of the greatness of historyinsomuch as the speeches linked historical writing to oratory and rhetoric. On the otherhand, there were others who mistrusted the speeches for they revealed how apart history andtruth were. In this anthology I include chapters or passages of almost thirty artes historicaedealing with the subject. Brief commentaries on the texts are added.
