%X In the last three years the battle speech has received renewed critical attention. This article reviews works published between 2008 and 2010, and shows the existence of two main lines of research on the subject: The ¡°academic¡± line, which focuses on the rhetorical study of the historiographical harangue, and the ¡°informative¡± line, addressed to the general public, which directs its attention to the role of the military speech throughout history. Through a critical analysis of five recently published books (Yellin 2008, Miller 2008 and 2010, Inglis 2008, and Thompson 2009), this paper comments both on the new contributions as on the interpretative pitfalls of this new line of investigation.
