%X Nestor¡¯s authority and rhetorical skills, praised by the narrator, play animportant role in the debate concerning Agamemnon¡¯s authority. The speeches pronouncedin the army¡¯s assemblies of Il.1 and 9 make it possible to observe Nestor¡¯s position about thispolitical problem. It remains constant in content as in the use of specific rhetorical means.Nestor shows an idea of authority antithetical to the personal use of power made byAgamemnon, looking for a communitarian action both in terms of decision-makingprocedures and goals.
