A key factor in compliance(how well one follows a prescribed medication or therapy) is the personal relationship between physician and patient. Thus, the objective of this paper was to evaluate the adherence in chronic disease patients followed their prescribed medicationor therapy as well as the relationship with their doctors, in public and private health institutions. The sample size was 200patients. The assessment tools used were the Therapeutic Adherence Scale and a questionnaire designed to appraisephysician-patient relationship. The results indicated that patients were more compliant when they were treated in publicinstitutions. Certain items of questionnaire showed statistically significant differences. When patients receive informationregarding the treatment, they show a greater compliance than when the physician focuses on the disease. %K Palabras clave: Adherencia terap谷utica %K enfermedades cr車nicas %K relaci車n m谷dico-paciente./ Key words: Therapeutic Adherence %K Chronic Disease %K Physician-patient Relationship %U http://www.revistaliberabit.com/liberabit17_2/rocio.pdf
