For this purpose, we are seeking to contribute with theoretical studies on the new digital tool. To this end, we seek theoretical support in Fairclough (1997, 2001, 2003), focusing on three kinds of meaning that correspond to the modes of interaction between discourse and social practice. Considering Twitter as a genre, we asked ourselves firstly how it can be identified, and if there are rules and prescriptions to this genre. We also asked how twitterer negotiates his/her relationship with his/her reader and what image he/she projects in his/her tweet. From broadcasting news in the media about the attack on a teacher in Porto Alegre, we selected ninety-one tweets to analyze. The overall outcomes suggest a crystallization of violence against the teacher, since the discursive cuttings expressed outrage against the student¡¯s action, who contradicts himself over the tweets, which provides fostering reflections on the theme. Furthermore, twitter proves to be a genre which incorporates a mix of other genres, such as the news and the ads, and in the assertiveness of the comments, it also incorporates and reproduces ideological values which are widespread in those genres that call for a continuation of studies of the themes. %K Critical Discourse Analysis %K Violence against the teacher %K Twitter %U http://linguagensedialogos.com.br/2011.1/textos/04-art-carla-marcela-silvia.pdf
