%T O que foi teoria da comunica  o? Um estudo da bibliografia entre 1967-1986

%X This paper explores what was meant by communication theory in college textbooks, academic journals and similar books published between 1967 and 1986. The exam suggests three points: (a) there is no consensus about what is communication theory, and the first disagreement is about the name, occasionally replaced by others; (b) this ambivalence can be also found in the books contents: there is virtually no agreement on what ideas and theories belongs to communication; (c) teaching was the main source of epistemological debates. Finally, it is suggested a parallel between those problems and nowadays questions.
