When it involvescarrying out surgical activity, these risk factors are multiplied. For this reason, it is important to know the degree of psychological stabilityof personnel with professional responsibility and associated to surgical procedures. This motivated us into describing the pattern of Burnoutsyndrome in heart surgery resident doctors in Havana as well as the laid down strategies for dealing with this entity.Method A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out on heart surgery resident doctors at the Institute of Cardiology and CardiovascularSurgery (ICCCV) and Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital. The universe was made up of 23 resident doctors while the sample was made upof 16 resident doctors who gave their consent. Anonymous self-applied questionnaires were used: the Maslach Burnout Inventory.Results A low degree of Burnout syndrome existed in resident doctors at ICCCV and Hermanos Ameijeiras hospital and measures aimed atreducing the elements that can constitute internal or external generating factors, were proposed. %K Burnout syndrome %K Maslach score %K heart surgery resident doctor %U http://www.revcardiologia.sld.cu/index.php/revcardiologia/article/view/85/219
