%0 Journal Article %T Corporate Governance and Intellectual Capital at Higher Learning Institution %A Nor Asyiqin Abu %A Akma Hidayu Dol @ Abdul wahid %J Terengganu International Management and Business Journal %D 2012 %I Universiti Teknologi MARA, Terengganu %X This study was conducted to examine the perception of the academicians towards intellectual capital (IC) and governance practice in Higher Learning Institution (HLI). It also examines the factors to retain the qualified academicians and the relationship between IC and corporate governance (CG) in HLI. A set of a survey questionnaire was used to gather the academicians¡¯ opinions and beliefs of the subject matter and they were selected by using a convenience sampling. Analysis reveals that CG is the second factor influences the attraction and retention of the IC. While the foremost factor that attracts academicians to join this HLI is the possibility of the institution in giving opportunity for their academic advancement. Furthermore, the analysis shows that this HLI have implemented good governance. However, some improvement should be done in disclosure and transparency as well as integrity and trust. Finally, statistical result shows a positive relationship between IC and CG. It means, the higher the CG the higher the IC would be retained by HLI.
