The six so-called ¡°half-cylinder tiles¡± from the late 15th century show two different but very similar themes. Today they are located on Tratzberg castle with no indication of their provenience whatsoever. The production of these special stove tiles with their fragile decoration and extraordinary design was of a much higher technical standard than normal rectangular stove tiles. The concave stove tiles where manufactured using a mould and applying a filigree frame in the front. Only the wealthy could afford half-cylinder tiles of this quality. %K Ofenkachel %K stove-tile %K Austria %K Tratzberg %K 1550-1600 %U http://www.histarch.uni-kiel.de/2011_Leib_high.pdf
