The only effective treatment for patients withchronic symptomatic sinus node dysfunction is pacemaker therapy. In tachy-brady syndrome patients, inaddition to pacemaker therapy, the pharmacological treatment is necessary to avoid tachycardiaepisodes. Because of the frequent paroxysmal atrial fibrillation episodes a good choice to maintain thesinus rhythm is represented by sotalol. This article will present three patients that provide examples ofbeneficial effects of sotalol and also on the risk of severe adverse events in some cases. %K sinus node dysfunction %K atrial fibrillation %K sotalol %K pacemaker therapy %U http://www.hvm.bioflux.com.ro/docs/2011.3.105-112.pdf
