The organism proved to be a new species of the Pennatulida and was named Crinillum Siedenburgii after the Dutch officer Siedenburg who dredged the animal from the depth of the Bande Sea in 1858. This finding was made 10 years before the first of a series of expeditions by Wyville Thomson, confirming the existence of living organisms in the deep-sea. %K Deep sea life %K Bande Sea %U http://gewina-tggnwt.library.uu.nl/index.php/gewina-tggnwt/article/view/335
