A Zoological Station at Den Helder was built in 1889-1890. Most marine research focused at first upon fishing problems, sea commerce, military matters, colonial government and land reclamation. In the last decennia, however, all aspects of oceanography became important. Recent developments point in the direction of a growing international cooperation, which transcends the limitation by national boundaries. %K Marine science %K Netherlands %U http://gewina-tggnwt.library.uu.nl/index.php/gewina-tggnwt/article/view/337
