%X Neste texto, pretende-se abordar como, em Ant¨ªgona, S¨®focles representa o processo de transi  o entre mito e raz o ¡ª f¨¦ gent¨ªlica e lei estatal ¡ª entre os s¨¦culos VIII a V a.C, tendo em vista os aspectos formativos da pe a. A reflex o proposta por S¨®focles tem como fio condutor a rea  o da princesa Ant¨ªgona ao edito do rei Creonte que proibia a realiza  o de cerim nia f¨²nebre para um dos irm os dela, Polinices. No embate em que, de um lado, a protagonista se respalda na religi o patriarcal e, de outro, o antagonista defendeas leis da Cidade-Estado, S¨®focles coloca na ordem do dia n o somente um conflito de personagens, mas tamb¨¦m o conflito vivenciado pelo homem grego nesse momento de transi  o. Destarte, em Ant¨ªgona, o poeta apresenta, mesmo que de maneira n o-intencional, o ideal formativo correspondente ¨¤s necessidades da sociedade hel¨ºnica do seu tempo. Para o desenvolvimento dessa abordagem, optou-se por uma metodologia que prev¨º a compreens o da sociedade grega no per¨ªodo em quest o como a base para a discuss o do processo formativo inerente ¨¤ representa  o sofocliana. Having as a frame of reference certain formative aspects in Antigone by Sophocles, this paper intends to discuss how the dramatist, in theaforementioned play, represents the process of transition between myth and reason ¡ª gentilic faith and City-State laws ¡ª which the Greek society of the 8-5th centuries B.C. faced. The reflection proposed by Sophocles has as its guiding principle the acts of princess Antigone against an edict by King Creon, concerning the burial ceremony of her brother, Polynices. As the protagonist is backed up by the religion of the patriarchal society, the antagonist is the defender of the City-State laws. Within this conflict, not only did Sophocles make use of his character¡¯s issues, but also those of the Greek Man during that transitional time. Thus, in Antigone, the poet presents, though not intentionally, the formative ideal that would fulfill the necessities of the Hellenic society of his time.Therefore, in order to develop this approach, a methodology that contemplates the Greek society of his time is required, as this is the basis to discuss the formative process inherent in Sophoclean drama.
