%0 Journal Article %T MENTORSHIP IN THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF PROVINCIAL EDUCATIONAL SUPERVISORS %A Kenan £¿ZCAN %A £¿a£¿lar £¿A£¿LAR %J Ad£¿yaman University International Journal of Social Science %D 2013 %I Ad?yaman University %X Supervision can be defined as the leading process of novice teachers usually by experienced ones who have the qualities in order to conduct the profession better. It can be said that mentorship can be beneficial to train educational supervisors. This study purposes to determine benefits of mentorship process in the process of training vice-supervisors. This study was conducted with a qualitative research method and 41 maximum diversity supervisors working in nine different provinces were interviewed in 2012. The data were collected with semi-structured interview form and analyzed with descriptive analysis technique. Results reveal that training the supervisors and vice-supervisors by means of mentor supervising on the job is not sufficient. However, it was understood that supervisors need mentorship, and they believe that this system will help them develop professionally; it will increase their motivation, productivity, institutional learning and knowledge sharing process.
