This article shows two faces of Human Resource Management. On one hand, the article indicates how important worker motivation has been for Human Resource Management and its direct association with worker productivity and efficacy. On the other hand, it points out the increasing importance that subcontracting has had as an alternative that allows companies the flexibilization and minimization of labor costs. Even though a structural contradiction comes up in this context, subcontracting seems to strive for feelings of affiliation and pride of belonging which are key elements to motivate the personnel. Apart from the literature review, the study was based on an ethnographic methodology of executives, contractors and subcontracted workers; and the results aim to contribute to streams of Organizational Theory and Human Resource Management. En el art赤culo se presentan consideraciones acerca de la motivaci車n de los trabajadores subcontratados, en el marco de referencia de la ※Gesti車n Humana Estrat谷gica§. Se exponendos facetas de la administraci車n de personal: por un lado, lo importante que ha sido lamotivaci車n de los trabajadores para la Gesti車n Humana, como tambi谷n la asociaci車ndirecta de esta con la productividad y la eficacia. Por otra parte, el auge creciente que hatenido la subcontrataci車n como alternativa que permite a las empresas la flexibilizaci車ny minimizaci車n de sus costos laborales. Sin embargo, en este contexto, aparece unacontradicci車n estructural: la subcontrataci車n parece atentar contra los sentimientos deafiliaci車n y pertenencia organizacional, elementos claves para la motivaci車n del personal.Adem芍s de la revisi車n documental, se llev車 a cabo un trabajo etnometodol車gico conejecutivos, contratistas y empleados subcontratados.
