We started this presentation focusing the political facts between 1954 and 1964 trying to build a framework about the situation of the country by this time. The performance of UNE involves not only the educational question but also the social, political and economic Brazilian reality. UNE gets to a very important position in the country because of its participation in the discussion of the Brazilian problems. By 1964, a ¡®coup d¡¯etat¡¯ throws the country into a military dictatorship, which lasts for 21 years. This modifies all the educational structure of the country and challenges UNE in many ways. The students use UNE to try to get the university reform and also to find a solution for the problem of the students who get approved in the tests to get into the universities but can¡¯t do it because there¡¯s no space for all the students. Finally, we¡¯ve discussed the performance of UNE till 1985, calling attention of our readers to the small interest of our students to the problems of our country. %K Student movements %K Military dictatorship %K University reform %K Brazilian problems %K Aphaty %U http://publicacoes.fatea.br/index.php/eccom/article/view/402/258
