%X La redacci車n del primer C車digo de Derecho Can車nico que tuvo la Iglesia latina fue ordenada por el Papa san P赤o X en 1904. La tarea codificadora, empero, no fue obra de un grupo cerrado de expertos, sino que tuvo en cuenta el parecer del episcopado latino, el que fue consultado en dos momentos diferentes; en ambos fueron consultados los obispos de Venezuela. En este trabajo se estudia, a partir de la documentaci車n guardada en el Archivo Secreto Vaticano, el aporte de los obispos de la provincia eclesi芍stica de Venezuela en el primero de dichos momentos, cuando los obispos fueron consultados acerca de las principales modificaciones y correcciones que deb赤an hacerse al derecho can車nico en vigor. Pope Saint Pius X ordered the preparation of the first Code of Canon Law of the Latin Church in 1904. However, the codification drafting task was not the work of a close group of experts, but considered the opinion of the Latin Episcopate, which was consulted in two different occasions. At both times, the bishops of Venezuela were consulted. Based on the documentation in the Vatican Secret Archives, this work studies the contribution of the bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Venezuela in the first occasion, when the bishops were consulted over the main amendments and corrections to the Canon Law in force at that time.
