%X The government of Ram車n Garc赤a de Le車n y Pizarro received praise from the Crown and, later on, from the ranks of historical research. However, some of his acts raise questions for their dubious ethics and morality. Threats, bribes, strong-arm tactics, favoritism, etc. were prevalent among his political practices and for his own benefit, as well as the benefit of his clan. This article analyses some of these irregular behaviors in the context of a debate on corruption in colonial bureaucracy. El gobierno de Ram車n Garc赤a de Le車n y Pizarro en Guayaquil mereci車 los elogios de la Corona y m芍s tarde de la investigaci車n hist車rica. Sin embargo, algunos de sus actos podr赤an ser cuestionados por su dudosa 谷tica y moralidad. Las amenazas, sobornos, medidas de presi車n, favoritismos, etc. formaron parte de su pr芍ctica pol赤tica en beneficio propio y el de su clan. Este art赤culo analiza algunos de esos comportamientos irregulares en el contexto del debate sobre la corrupci車n de la burocracia colonial.
