Objective: to identify training needs and educational components to be considered in a professional training proposal that would meet them. Method: the study was conducted during 2006-2007 and involved teachers and administrators from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Cienfuegos and other universities. The methods used included individuals and groups interviews, surveys, observation, documents analysis and group discussion. Results: we highlighted that the potentials of pharmacology are not completely exploited in the formation of Medicine Doctors and that no training activities are developed in order to meet this purpose. Educational components to be considered in order to develop a professional training proposal for the treatment of pharmacology contents in Medicine Studies were determined and the potentials of the Universities of Medical Sciences in Cuba as to fulfill this purpose were confirmed. Conclusions: participatory diagnostic assessment process ensured the identification of needs for teachers* training as well as the didactic components that a professional training proposal requires in the context of Medical Sciences of Cienfuegos for the treatment of pharmacology contents. Fundamento: la superaci車n profesional de los docentes constituye una exigencia para el tratamiento de los contenidos farmacol車gicos en la carrera de Medicina. Objetivo: determinar las necesidades de superaci車n y los componentes did芍cticos a tener en cuenta en una propuesta de superaci車n profesional orientada a ese fin. M谷todo: el estudio se realiz車 en el curso 2006-2007 y participaron docentes y directivos de la Facultad de Ciencias M谷dicas de Cienfuegos y de otras universidades del pa赤s. Se utilizaron como m谷todos la entrevista individual y grupal, la encuesta, la observaci車n, el an芍lisis de documentos y se realiz車 un grupo de discusi車n. Resultados: se precis車 que no se aprovechan las potencialidades de la disciplina Farmacolog赤a en funci車n de la formaci車n del M谷dico General, en tanto no se desarrollan actividades de superaci車n para cumplir este prop車sito. Se determinaron los componentes did芍cticos a considerar para desarrollar una propuesta de superaci車n para el tratamiento de los contenidos de la Farmacolog赤a en la carrera de Medicina y se confirmaron las potencialidades de las Universidades de Ciencias M谷dicas de Cuba para cumplir este prop車sito.
