%X In this article, I cover three aspects related to the knowledge about dictionarires: the history of Brazilian dictionaries, the reading and the production of dictionaries from a perspective of the Discourse Analysis and the History of Linguistic Ideas. Hence, the dictionary is seen as a discourse about language, particularly about words or about a fragment of reality, for the user, in certain social and historical conditions.
